Brief info

Mrs. Bridget Katsriku was a product of the University of Ghana, Legon, which she completed in 1973 with a degree in the Arts. She also obtained Post Graduate Diplomas and Certificates from numerous Universities in the UK, USA, Italy, Malaysia and Ghana in Management, Public Policy, Manpower Planning and Auditing, Labour-Management relations etc. She has Executive Masters in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). She has traveled widely and delivered papers in both national and international fora.

Mrs Katsriku joined the Civil Service in September 1975 after teaching for two years. By a dint of hard work and dedication to duty she rose through the ranks to become one of the few female Chief Directors in the Civil Service; a position she held from 1999 to 2008 when she retired compulsorily from the civil service.

In November 1999, while she was still serving as Chief Director at the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare, she was assigned additional responsibility of establishing the Ghana AIDS Commission, a task she effectively executed with distinction.
Mrs. Katsriku has extensive experience in management and has participated in both national and international conferences for economic and social development.

Based on her distinguished services in the civil service, she was appointed to the high office of Chairman of the Public Services Commission in 2011, the position she held until 2018 when she had to retire again after serving a total of forty- three (43) years in both civil and public services.
She served on several Governing Boards of public service organizations including the Population Council, Internal Audit Agency and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

She has also served on many international and national technical committees including the Committee on International Year of Disabled Persons, Women’s Employment, and Committee on Poverty. In the International arena she became a Vice –Chairman of the African Association of Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) headquartered in Nairobi, ,Kenya, representing the whole of West Africa from 2012 – 2018 and a member of the board of the Commonwealth Association of Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) based in Canada from 2014 – 2018. Mrs. Katsriku also served as a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts in Public Administration, from 2018 -2021, having been appointed by the UN in her personal capacity as an expert in Public Administration.

Mrs Katsriku has won several awards including Best Worker of the year in 2006 in the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare: Best Worker in the Ghana Civil Service in 2007 and the high National Award of the Order of the Volta in 2011, for her excellence and contribution to the Public Service. She was also awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree by the University of Ghana, Legon, 2016 for her contribution to public service development.
